Pet and dog-friendly self-catering cottages are in increasing demand - something the team here at Cottageline has been keeping an eye on for some time. These days, when we take on a new holiday rental, understanding whether or not it is pet-friendly is one of our top priorities. But it's not just about whether cottages accept dogs. When we add to our list of pet-friendly cottages we want to make sure that the property will make a good base for people who holiday with their pets. That means looking beyond the property itself. Yes of course, gardens, dog-proof floors and open fires are a consideration, but so are the less obvious facilities and local amenities. For instance, are there nearby pubs that accept dogs, dog-friendly walks or dog-friendly beaches? For people booking extended breaks, are there any kennels nearby in case they want a whole day out? (As many dog-owners will agree, no matter how well you might plan, something might crop up – from a day in a water park to a fishing trip - that you would love to do, if only you hadn't brought Fido with you!)
Each of the following pet-friendly holiday cottages has undergone a personal review by a member of the Cottageline team. We hope that their local knowledge will help you find the ultimate dog-friendly self catering holiday. Enjoy!
